What’s new

What’s new in Filo.

We ship changes to Filo most days. These are the ones you’d notice, newest first. Follow by RSS

  1. Seven apps for the sourcing desk, built from a sentence each

Quote board, Supplier book, Supplier qualification, Price watch, Award desk, Formula what-if and Quote review.

Ask Filo for an app and it builds, hosts and lets you publish it. The first seven for a sourcing team: a Quote board for the week's open quotes, a Supplier book, Supplier qualification with the questionnaire and its expiry, Price watch on the materials that move, an Award desk for picking quotes, Formula what-if for pricing a swap before you commit, and Quote review. Each one works on real records, so a pick in an app changes the costing.

  2. A new filoagent.com

The site now says what Filo does today, for contract manufacturers first.

The website is rebuilt around the back-office agent: what Filo does today, a page for contract manufacturers, pricing, a demo request, and the legal pages. This page is new too.

  3. From formula to estimate with nothing connected

A costing builds, prices and estimates entirely in Filo, with its PDF.

With products, customers and estimates kept in Filo, a formula goes from chat to a finished estimate without connecting anything. Filo builds the pricing with every tier, keeps each line's cost, and makes the estimate PDF showing the tiers, never the BOM. A costing's page now opens its pricing and estimate records in place.

  4. A Records page, and any kind kept in Filo

See each kind of record, where it lives, and what Filo wrote there. Keep any kind in Filo itself.

Records lists each kind in use with where it lives, a live view of the rows, search, and the log of what Filo wrote. Any kind can now be kept in Filo: a grid you own, with fields you add, import and export as CSV, history on every row, and an undo for anything Filo added from a chat.

  5. Filo 0.1.2 for macOS

The first signed and notarized release on the update feed.

Filo 0.1.2 for macOS is live: signed, notarized, and the first release the app updates itself to.

  6. Connections, with Fiddle as a connector

One integrations page: what's connected, what's available, what's coming.

Connections is now an integrations page with a card per system: Fiddle, Google Workspace, Slack and custom servers for developers, with Shopify, WooCommerce, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Online and Xero listed as coming. Connect Fiddle is a sign-in, not a key. Each coming connector has a "Tell me when it's ready" button.

  7. A rail beside every chat

What needs you, what Filo is working on, who it is waiting on, and the work in this chat.

Beside every chat: the approvals waiting for you, the step Filo is on with a Stop, the suppliers and check-ins it is waiting on, and the chat's costings and price requests. Folded, it is a strip of counts in the chat's top bar. Records, approvals and files now open in a pane beside the chat instead of taking you away from it.

  8. Records read and written where you keep them

Suppliers, items, prices and the rest live in Fiddle, a Google Sheet or Filo; Filo reaches each kind where it is.

Each kind of record, suppliers, items, supplier pricing, products, customers, estimates, is placed once, and Filo reads and writes it there. A shop on a spreadsheet and a shop on Fiddle get the same Filo.

  9. A Platform area for the people who run Filo

Organizations, people, model providers and reports, for Filo's own admins.

Filo's admins get one place for organizations and people, the model provider and keys the agent uses, and reports on engagement, cost and quality.

  10. A turn never gets lost

Every step Filo takes is saved before it is shown, so a restart or a deploy picks up where it was.

Every step Filo takes in a chat is saved before you see it. If Filo is restarted or updated mid-turn, it picks the turn up where it was instead of starting over. Closing the window no longer stops a turn; Stop does. Messages you send while Filo is working queue up and are read at its next step, and Send now cuts in. Earlier web searches are remembered too, so Filo stands by what it read.

  11. Every costing gets a page

A costing's lines, price check, tiers and estimate on one page, with its chat docked beside it.

Open a costing and its own chat sits beside it. The page shows each line's price and where it came from, the tiers, the margin and the estimate, and opens the pricing in Fiddle when that is where it was built.

  12. Documents kept on a project

Files a whole project needs, shared with the workspace and in view in every chat about it.

Keep a spec sheet or a customer's brief on a project and every chat in that project starts with it in view. Documents are shared with the workspace, so a colleague's chat sees them too.

  13. Drop files anywhere on a chat

Photos, PDFs, spreadsheets, Word and OpenDocument files, dropped on the chat or the whole desktop window.

Drop a file anywhere on a conversation and it lands in the composer. On the desktop, drop it anywhere on the window and Filo starts a new chat if none is open. Filo now reads iPhone photos, older Excel and Word files, and OpenDocument spreadsheets and documents. Files on a sent message can be opened or downloaded again later.

  14. The desktop app ships from production

Filo for macOS, built and signed on every production release, updating itself.

Filo now ships as a desktop app for macOS. It checks for a new version on launch and every few hours, updates itself, and reopens where you were.
